The automotive landscape is shifting rapidly. Why? because Ford recently cut 500 jobs to streamline operations, rivals like Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche, and Volvo are expanding their EV offerings.
BYD also faces competition from Chinese brands Chery and GWM, and India’s Tata Motors, with analysts estimating that over one third of vehicles sold in South Africa today are imported from China or India.
Africa’s EV Ecosystem on the Rise
Beyond South Africa, BYD’s expansion hints at a continent wide electrification drive. If the charging network extends across borders.
